Try TimeCard Workgroup for Outlook

With TimeCard users plan and report their time inside the Outlook Calendar. You are welcome to download and try TimeCard for 30 days without any obligations. Then your organization must subscribe to TimeCard if you want to continue using it.

The Workgroup edition is intended for several users who report their time to a central MS Access or SQL database or to a SharePoint site.

Use the SharePoint option if you want to combine TimeCard Workgroup and TimeCard for SharePoint. In that case, install TimeCard for SharePoint first, and then connect the Outlook edition to the same site. Users should also be added in SharePoint first.

TimeCard should be installed on each PC where it should be used, but only administrators should have the full installation. Therefore there are two installation files, one for the administrator and one for other users. The User installation may be performed manually on each PC or centrally with Group Policy, via Active Directory.
  1. Download the file TimeCardAdminSetup in .msi or .zip format to any folder on your computer. (Extract the .zip file.)
  2. Close Outlook if it is open.It seems some Access database driver have been removed from your installation.
  3. Click on the file TimeCardAdminSetup.msi to perform the installation. By default TimeCard is installed under Program files.
  4. Open Outlook when the installation is finished.
  5. You will now be asked to select your team’s alternative for reporting and settings sharing. Log in or give a path, depending on what option is selected. If you select a database option you may also create Example data for the evaluation here.
  6. (Open the Global Settings and enter Tags and Tag values for the appointment tagging if you have not created Example data.)
TimeCard adds two new groups to the Outlook ribbon.
The group in the left image above, with the Settings, Report and Statistics buttons, is shown in the Outlook calendar when no appointment is selected. The Global Settings is for all, while the Personal Settings is just for that Outlook. The Statistics button gives statistics for all.

When you select an appointment in the calendar view, the group to the left will be replaced by the group to the right, where you can see the dropdowns with your tag values. That way you can tag appointments without even opening them. The ribbon group to the right is also shown in the open appointment.
The settings of TimeCard Workgroup for Outlook are done in two steps:

  1. The Administrator defines the TimeCard tags and tag values in Global settings. These are the extra information that needs to be gathered from users, besides date, start time, end time and subject for each appointment.
  2. In the Personal settings, each user defines which of the centrally defined TimeCard tag values he or she will use. By avoiding free text, time reporting is quick and error-free.
For more information about installation, settings and usage, refer to the Manual and the Demonstrations online.
The User installation is similar to the Administrator installation, but another Sharing Option screen will be shown. Here the user should select the database that was created by the administrator.
The User calendar ribbon group only has the Personal Settings button, and the Statistics button only give statistics for that person. The appointment group is the same as for the administrator.
